Water system cleaning

Should i.... get the caravan home prior to our first trip away and clean the system through? was thinking or either puriclean or milton

or should i just do it onsite? may mean we're without water for a few hours.. while it sits in the system.

How do you guys go about it.. should i also think about replacing the plug bit on the side of the van? or do you not change that but the adapter that goes into the aqua roll
