Aztex omnidirectional aerials

I have recently purchased a new caravan which has an Aztex omnidirectional aerial, commonly known as a stick aerial. I have a problem getting a good signal to produce a decent pcture. I have been on sites where I get no picture at all, but the caravan next
to me gets a good signal on the Status aerial. Have other members had the same problem?
