Looked at a VW Passat Estate Alltrack today as a potential replacement towcar.  The car has a factory fit Westfalia swivel towbar which is all very tidy.  However, when I released the towball into the towing position I was amazed at how little clearance
there was between the towball and the rear bumper of the car - centre of ball to bumper I estimate at 70mm max.  In addition the electrics socket is located on the neck of the towbar facing sideways and is located only a little way below the actual ball.  Because
of these issues I am not at all sure that there is enough clearance for an Alko 3004 hitch (we have a Bailey U3 on order).

Interested to hear from other Passat Estate and/or Alltrack towers on their experience.

Thanks

Ian
