Pitch stealing
We are motor-homers and when we go off site to visit a local area of interest we leave our CC sign that indicates that the site is occupied attached to the numbered pitch peg. We were on a CC affiliated site near Bridgenorth and returned to our pitch at
about 5:00pm after a long day to find that it had been taken over by two guys with a pickup, caravan and large awning. When I approached them they made out that they had not realised that they were on the wrong pitch, even though the site key they had was
numbered as a pitch several places away. We were due to leave the next day, and we were tired. All we wanted to do was to park, have our evening meal and get some rest, so when they guys and I went to talk to the warden I suggested that if the warden let
us park up on another pitch overnight, that would give the guys more time to move to where they should be and it would allow us to get settled and be gone before any new arrivals the next day.
This was apparently totally against the rules! The warden insisted that the guys move straight away and that we had to wait until they had moved and then park up on the pitch allocated to us. It seemed to be some sort of Health and Safety/Quality Control
issue! After at least 30 minutes and much argument we got onto another pitch but keys had to be swapped and the computer updated....with much fuss. We left the next day but it turned out that the guys did not move! The warden gave in! They must have seen
my CC sign. Was it a deliberate act to get what was admittedly a nice location at the end of the run of pitches?
What do you think would have been the right response by the warden?
