Travelling from Scotland to South East England

My wife and I are new to caravanning this year and have been staying at sites within a couple of hours of home, but we are trying to plan a longer trip next year to Devon/Dorset area from West Lothian. I assume there are lots of people who have done this
type of trip and we would appreciate any tips on how long it takes, the best routes and where to overnight, best sites etc..
