Breathable Carpet for awnings

Does anyone know if you fold over a breathable carpet in two does it a) remain breathable b) become more comfortable underfoot and c) remain allowable to use on all sites. I have a porch awning which is approx 6ft x 8 ft and also a full size awning 18ft
x 8ft. We intend to use the porch awning regularly and the full size awning probably once or twice a year and I am trying to work out whether to buy it in 2 separate pieces or just the one. Thanks
