N & W WALES: Any routes to avoid with caravan?

The Club's Site Map 2013/14 shows double arrows on the A470 to the East of Dolgellau - is this road best avoided?  We fancy one of the CLs with lovely views there.  Or any of the Club Sites in the NW - any problems if we follow Sat Nav directions thru the
centre via Llangollen and the A5 instead of going all the way round via Chester and the A55?
