Running off the Battery

Hi everyone.  We tried running off the battery for first time last weekend. Oven, heating, water and TV (with special plug all worked).  However, the kettle wouldn't.  It is a low wattage kettle (220v 800W).  Should this work from the plug sockets when we
running off the battery or do we need one that sits on the hob?
