Advice When No Electric Hook Up

We are going to our first CL in May which does not have EHU.  We only have one gas bottle and one battery.

I know nothing about gas so sorry if this is a stupid question but do we have to wait till the gas is empty before we refill it or can we do it whenever....if whenever are we charged for a full refill or whatever gas they put in.  We are going away for 3
nights and I'm hoping it will not be too cold and we are able to manage on what we have. 

Come to think of it, I know nothing about batteries either.  If the site has battery recharging facilities do I just find these and take the battery and plug it into something?

Sorry, I really am rubbish at practical things.
