electronic parking brake

I am purchasing a vw tiguan in the next few weeks. Can anyone help with the following,(I am ok with autohold operation) My van is kept on a slight slope,I normaly drive to front of van reverse within a few inches of van tow bar, stop car ,put  on handbrake
check distance, get back in car release hand brake and let car roll back a few inches , stop get out and hitch up (this is with my existing con ventional car and hand brake.) With  new car with e- brake it seems once one stops, the brake comes automatically,
therefore how do I let car roll back, without putting car in reverse and engaging clutch. I hope someone understands what I am talking  about !!!. Graham
