Help water pump problem on Compass Corona 475

Hello. My caravans water pump is running constantly and can only be turned off by switching off the main pump switch. I've been told theirs a micro switch in the tap that senses when tap is being used is this correct? Is it easy to fix and could i do it
myself? I would be gratefull of any help. Thanks.
