Can anyone with any real knowledge of cars answer the following questions? My car has gone to the main dealer today for an interim service and MOT. I have had a report from the dealer concerning the following:- 1. "Can't check the oil level because a very small piece at the very bottom of the dipstick has broken off". How…
I'm not talking about small cars, sports cars etc but cars which you would expect to be able to tow. I'm looking to change my present Skoda Octavia but have come across references to some Skoda models/versions not being approved to tow ( no train weight shown on weight plate). Seems to relate mainly to some versions of the…
Thankfully our faithful tug has passed its MoT for another year, however, when I collected it I was “advised” that my dash-cam had been removed. Apparently, it’s now an instant fail if the driver’s vision is obstructed by anything, including furry dice, air-fresheners or even dash-cameras. The guy told me he wasn’t mean…
We are quite confused about our tyre pressures. The card inside the door says they should be 33psi front and rear normally and 35 psi front and 41 psi rear fully laden. The car (Suzuki Vitara Auto) is now a year old, but we have only done 3,000 miles, about half of it towing our lightweight 688kg MIRO Trigano Mini…
If, like me, you have an 1850KG twin axle, go to youtube, search for the channel of Petrol Ped, and watch his test of the biggest BMW EV (£100k ++) towing a Swift T/A from Chichester to Beaulieu. He does a comparison run without the van first. I don't think the conclusion will surprise you. Paul
Do EV manufacturers give any info on battery charge loss whilst the vehicle is idle? We used to call this quiescent current when I was employed in electronics? The reason I ask is that a neighbour recently returned from a 3 week long haul holiday and found that their parked up EV battery had drained. They had initially…
is anyone towing a caravan with a Dacia Duster 4x2? My dealer where I am purchasing a caravan from has advised me that one with a total weight of 1237 is suitable for a Dacia to pull although the recommended weight for the car towing is 1200. As I am completely new to caravanning, any advice would be welcome. Thanks
Does anyone uise a KIA fit detachable tow hitch on a post 2020 Kia Sorrento. If so is the clearance between tow hitch and car bodywork sufficient?
I'm trying to ensure that calculating my 85% of the car's weight is correct. But what is the correct value to use. The log book of my car states a Revenue/Gross Weight of 1558 Kg but there is no mention of kerbside weight. Search the net suggests a possible kerbside value of 1425 Kg. But which is right?
