Am I the only one to run screaming from the room as soon as the discordant racket, posing as introductory music, blares out from the TV? I am not normally known as a nervous person but that assault on the eardrums does it for me!

Has anyone seen this afternoon programme on BBC1? Basically, a pleasant young lady called Sarah goes to local tips and asks people dumping things to give them to her. She then 'recycles' them into something (often a bit of 'art' or something) and sells them to make a profit, which she then hands to the original owner.…

Found this series quite disturbing, full of sadness and discord but nevertheless not without its comedy. Very interesting and pertinent underlying sub plots throughout the episodes give insight into the characters and their behaviours.
Anyone watching this series? Its been going a few weeks now. Almost as complicated as the Missing, at least people wise. David

What a cracking programme and cracking comedians! After all these years still as good as ever. Just wish I could understand some of the lingo! I still laugh even when guessing what is meant and what the joke is! That's half of its appeal to me! Dae ye ken!
Has anyone been to see the film yet? I read the book, which was very,very good, some time ago. But I often end up disappointed when I go to watch film versions of books I've enjoyed. Interested to hear any views.
