Re: Best reads - Club Together Book Club?
I have just forced myself to finish reading (by skipping great chunks) "The Fear Index" by Robert Harris. I found it very disturbing and unsettling. I knew it would be difficult to get into - complicated stuff about financial markets, bur persevered as I usually like Robert Harris.
So, just a warning, it's a very disturbing (and in parts nasty) story.
What next for me? Something light a fluffy I think!
Re: Time Warp
Don’t forget, Micky, that in the early days there were also a number of unfriendly contributors and CT was quite vitriolic at times. It wasn’t all a bed of roses but those days are long gone.
Over the years, CT has become rather restrictive by way of Guidelines, T&Cs and somewhat haphazard enforcement of them at times. Perhaps that has a bearing on deterring new posters?
TDA reminded us about the proposed new guidelines and, indeed, this has been ongoing for months. There were some tweaks made to the GLs a while back but that’s as far as it’s gone.
I know CAMC see things differently but it’s always been my contention that T&Cs are the rules we must follow while the GLs should be just that, a guide on how to use the forum. I think the duplication of rules set out under both headings in CAMC's way makes for a far too lengthy reading process and unduly complicates matters with the result that folk may not bother to read them at all. Simple is best.
Re: Time Warp
I know what you mean, Micky. Other forums have Factsheets or Technical sections where answers can be found to the old chestnuts such as winterisation or best bike carriers. CT doesn’t even have a decent search function and all the valuable member input gets lost.
There is obviously much adrift with the IT function and there seems no will to improve things. As for our wish list, as I recall, nothing much came of our suggestions last time around. 🤷🏻♂️
Re: What are you all up to
Sorry to hear of Mrs M's mishap. It sounds painful. I do hope her recovery goes well. It sounds like you are going to be busy moulesy during the next few weeks.
Pleased to hear that you have your Christmas tree helen. I have put up a few advent lights and tree will hopefully go up at the end of the week.
I am still not feeling brilliant after the shingles. Apparently it takes a while. However we did meet up with 4 friends that we hadnt seen for a while for lunch today in a lovely village pub and had such a good time chatting and catching up with them. We have another lunch date with a couple of friends planned for Tuesday. We then go to see Father Christmas with our nearly 4 year old great grandson next Saturday.
Weather here has been bitterly cold of late. It took OH ages to defrost my car on Friday morning. It didn't thaw all day but was lovely and sunny. Saturday was just as cold but grey, misty and cloudy all day. We woke up to snow this morning but it turned to rain late morning. I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
Re: What are you all up to
Despite the middle and southern parts of the lakes full of snow there was hardly any in Keswick's Victorian fayre which was as usual fantastic. Although I'm not sure how this chap fits in?
I did say to him that you were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! Bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness.
Re: Is using low wattage tube heater worth while?
So long as the plumbing has been drained I can*t see the point of heating the caravan while it's in storage. Perhaps someone will enlighten me.
I've had my caravans out in the open for over 30 years and even when the temperature has dropped to -15° on isolated occasions I only had a problem once because I had forgotten to drain the boiler.
Re: Formula One
I've been looking at highlights of this season on youtube this weekend. Best rookie in a long time has to be Oscar Piastri, let's hope Lando gets his first win before he does. Best laugh has to be the Hungarian GP when Lando knocked over and broke Max's trophy (the look on his face!).
I think if Danny Ric hadn't broken his hand he would now be Max's partner. I think Checo will have his work cut out to keep his RB seat as surely his excuses book must be threadbare.
Max has the talent, hunger and now the maturity that Lewis had 6 or 8 years ago so it will be interesting to see next year if Merc can produce the car has Lewis still got that hunger?
Why does Ferrari always seem to be not quite there?

Re: Is using low wattage tube heater worth while?
Why do you put out bowls of salt? Yes, I know it absorbs moisture but, in view of the vents in your van, you are constantly soaking up moisture from the big outdoors and that’s why you need to change them every month. I recommend saving your money.
Re: water pump
Hi mrtattoo,
Of the total bill, how much is the pump ?. From memory I don’t think they’re massively expensive in terms of the part alone, and as they’re much easier to access whilst the belts are off I’d replace all at the same time (I did this with my 2018 multijet last year).
