Re: Site Fees
I've never understood why people go on about pricing.
Companies set out their stalls, and the public decides whether or not they want to buy. Thats why some people shop in Sainsburys, and others shop in Aldi.
I've just bought some Aldi 'Magnums' that, in my opinion, are just as nice as real Magnums at half the price, but I'm not planning on demanding that Unilever reduce their prices.
If you don't consider a particular site value for money, then go elsewhere
Re: Site Fees
the answer is to shop around , if you don’t like the price go elsewhere, simples
Re: Insurance for cancelling bookings in the UK
On taking out insurance for club sites I would totally agree.
However, as far as tonight being free at 130 sites. That’s OK if you only want tonight, but not so good if you want the weekend or a week and it’s not available. Then of course there is pitch type to consider, if you want a service pitch, not just any pitch, they tend to get booked up first. If you want a particular location on fixed dates it’s always worth booking. Particularly with the CAMC with its minimal £5 deposit.
Re: What are you all up to
We had a lovely day at Burton Agnes yesterday, gardens still lovely despite the drought and not being able to water. Possibly not as lush as usual, but the fruit and veg was magnificent. Walled Garden was full of different butterflies, so lovely to see them. Nice ride home via Fraisthorpe (tide in so no paddle), Brandesburton for Fish and Chips, and then a meander through Beverley. Campsite at Fraisthorpe was full, and there were a few on the THS overlooking the beach as well. That will be heaving next week when more schools are off. A few photos…..
Peacock Butterfly
Red Admiral Butterfly
Small Tortoiseshell
Large White
Globe Artichoke, no butterfly!

Re: Road closure and 20 mile diversion in Shropshire
On the subject of road closures, there are extensive ongoing roadworks at the junction of the A1 and A421 near St Neots (Black Cat roundabout) and there are frequent closures of these roads and the A428 at weekends and overnight. You can check the situation >here< on Facebook or >here< on the Highways Authority pages but the area is best avoided if possible even when there are no closures because of frequent conjestion caused by restrictons.

Loving all the photos, @milliehull, @nelliethehooker, @Francis, @Bakers2, @Wherenext and others... great to hear how everyone is enjoying tbe summer.
Last day of the 'first leg' of our summer in the caravan. Off home tomorrow for a few days, before we venture to the north east. Just had to finish with another visit to Knoll beach Studand... including a stop at the beach cafe.... and we stopped off on the way back to take a photo of the view across to Sandbanks and Poole... not very clear today. It was cloudy whilst on the beach but still fine for sitting out, and the beach was quite crowded....

Great to see everyone’s photos seems like we are all enjoying the summer
We took a drive today along to Wells Next the Sea a place we have always wanted to visit we liked it but not quite as I was expecting may be to do with the weather as it was dull cool and windy so maybe didn’t see it in the best light. After that we stopped off in Sheringham to have a pint at the Crown Inn where we had been last week although this time we didn’t sit in the beer garden. Daughter SIL and Gdaughter last night tonight so they treated us to a meal at the site club house then there was a singer on who was vey good so a good day overall. Weather looking better for tomorrow
Re: What are you all up to
It was a similar start to the day as yesterday, dry but with a mist drifting up the valley. We got away as planned and had a good, and interesting, drive along the A5 to the coast and then over onto Anglesey. The mist seemed to follow us but we could see clear skies above it. This is the view as we drove through Snowdonia, with the Carnedds on the right and Tryfan on the left.
We are on a super new site for us, a CL with serviced pitches, near Amlwch, Capel Bach, which OH spotted discounted FB - £18:40 pn. It has stayed hazy here all afternoon but eventually the sun came out and it was very warm this evening and we now have a red sky.
Re: What are you all up to
It was a dull start to the day yesterday and it didn't brighten up until the late afternoon. We drove up to Llyn Brenig, for a walk and in particular to see their Ospreys, which were all on the nest when I arrived at the observation point, and I saw both the adults take a short flight onto the camera perch. I left before a visit before a party lead by Iolo Willams arrived. The reservoir was nearly full, and not way down like Carsington Water, and being used by lots of Fly Fishermen.
I called in at the Grade 1 listed All Saints Old Parish Church, Langar on the way back, but was disappointed to find it closed, as it has some medieval wall paintings, some dating from the 15C.
