Re: 2025 Monthly Open and Closed CL List
@CLMaddie Thanks for correcting that CL link and the price of the River Gilpin CL.
Having just looked up Buttercup Meadow CL, I see that it's just a few miles away from where we live, I can vouch for the description on their page 😁 lovely area, fantastic walking, especially around White Coppice as mentioned 👍️
Re: Site Fees
Unfortunately Seasider that is what club prices are now like. You will get many owners agreeing with your comments and hence the use of Independent sites and CL's favoured by a lot of us.
When living on Merseyside we used Greenacres just off the M6 near Carlisle twice. I was amazed at the wet rooms in the then new shower block and have yet to come across anything of this standard on a UK site.

Re: What are you all up to
@Francis - you're a very brave man - there's no way you would have got me up there. Felt dizzy just looking at the pics!😯 Pleased you had a good time, though.
Most impressive sweetcorn @Bakers2 - soon be ready for the BBQ! We're very lucky having such nice neighbours - the last lot were dreadful and wouldn't do a thing for anyone other than themselves - totally selfish - and always looking to make a quick buck at someone else's expense. Adam, Becky and the kids are the complete opposite and it's a real delight having them living next door. They've only been here 4 years - indeed Toby was just 5 weeks old when they moved in. Just hope they don't move anytime soon😀.
Also hope @DavidKlyne is doing OK. The husband of a friend of Ros had a stroke about a month ago and he's still in the rehab unit of the hospital. I think it's going to be a long slow process in his case.
Didn't realise you were in our part of the world @Takethedogalong - I can almost see Fraisthorpe from our back garden. I would have popped up to say hello if I'd known. Hope you managed your paddle😀 although the weather isn't too brilliant at the moment.
Re: Site Fees
@seaside This has talked about before and (surprisingly) club sites are still middle of the road for prices. But as I've often said before if you can find another site that gives you what you want in terms of quality and value for money the go there, and if as you say there are other sites who exceed club standards the go there, it's a win win situation for you. Club quality for lower prices. Those two you mention are a bit far from Bunree though? And the location and view from the Bunree site is perhaps worth the extra?
From mid september onwards the price drops to around £35 but picks up for the Scottish half terms to £40.
By the way factor in the very cheap deposit and excellent cancellations rules for the club. Some sites want their money up front a few weeks before arrival and if you cancel beyond a certain point you could lose everything.
For example Greenacres (which by the way is £4 per night over BH and Easter) pay up two weeks before arrival, and lose everything if you cancel after that. The deposits one night's stay or 20% if longer than five days are non refundable. Dogs are £1 a night, day visitors £3 each, so one really has to take in the club's T&C which are more generous in my view.
Re: What are you all up to
PS I too have been wondering about @DavidKlyne I do hope he is doing well and possibly at home.
Someone enquired about Helen and Trevor a while ago. I am in touch with them from time to time and they are both well.
Re: What are you all up to
A rather wet and miserable day here today so we took a run over to Sandringham. We had a (slow) wander, visited the gift shop and had some lunch where the crockery was really beautiful. We also visited the plant shop which is the best I have been to for some while. We bought another floribunder rose bush (it would have been rude not to!). Last day today - home tomorrow. Just a short break this time. It has been most enjoyable.
Re: wireless camera kits
Just Google it. Pages and pages of info pop up. And quicker than waiting for answers on here.
Re: Purchasing 1st caravan
@eribaMotters I wasn't actually worrying about it for you but again for me I'm not sure what it would prove to the quality of the caravan?
Re: What are you all up to
@Francis I admire your OH for going on the big wheel for your granddaughter. I tried the London Eye, son about 15. I'd always done my best not to pass on my fear of heights - developed after having the children. I was a great tree climber growing up! But a stupid woman sat her child on the door handle. Longest time of my life, 20 minutes I seem to recall. Of course quite a few folk in a pod so I had to hold it together.
WWe Holidayed for years based in Swanage when the children were younger, friends joining us some years. @dsb your posts have brought back some wonderful memories @DSB
VVery posh looking feet @milliehull 😆. Flipflops are definitely needed at some of the beaches around Heacham. The lavender was very forward when we were there in June so I'm surprised its only being harvested now. That cake looks, and was when I had it, delicious. The lavender ice cream is pretty good too. No it wasn't the same visit. But it was very handy as a stop off point when passing 😉
Good to read everyone's news. I too have been thinking and wondering about @ddavidklyne. Sending best wishes to him and his OH. @DavidKlyne
NNot much to report here, today, 🤞I should have a window to do some gardening and conditions should be good. I was able to enjoy reflexology on Tuesday. It's been 11 weeks since my previous, normally 4 weekly, because of PF treatment. It was bliss and I feel so much better. No comment on my foot 🥲 except to say I've ordered another type of support with an added adjustable straps..... I see the podiatrist on 11 August.
We've done a dump run this week so that allowed access to 'surplus' items since our move which have now been advertised. If they don't go they'll have to be dumped as charities don't take furniture locally. Where we lived before a charity helped furnish accommodation for ex offenders/rehab recoveries/women who'd escaped abusive relationships so much of my parents home including cutlery and crockery were gratefully received. We had lovely photos of flats prepared showing some of our items. I've yet to find something similar here. Otherwise, we're just jogging along.
I'm growing sweetcorn, for the first time courtesy of seeds from the eldest grandson who gave me the seeds saying I like sweetcorn grandma 🥰. So we planted them in a tub and watched. The recent rain has made them really grow! We may have a harvest......
The dog had her annual vet checkup yesterday, including an ear clean. She was really good, usually ears are off limits or you have to be very swift 😱. She's putting on weight, just 0.3kg in 2 years, which surprises me as she's not food orientated and can go without eating all her dinner several days in a row. I have my suspects treat-wise..... I thought my lack of walking may have been responsible but the vet assured me that's unlikely.
@richardandros rather disappointing news on diagnosis 🤞for ongoing scans. A blue badge may help, I ought to apply for OH.... It's not easy going from be active to walking wounded so I sympathise completely.
Right must start my day properly, have a good day folks.
I'm having intermittent issues with @ and continuing double letters as paragraphs start. I've left them in for illustration purposes.....
Edit @richardandros great to read about Stanley. It takes a village to raise a child. By the sound if it a great little family. I hope Toby enjoyed whatever he had 😉
Re: What are you all up to
Excellent day here today we went to Great Yarmouth eventually managed to get a space after a few loops of the town. Had a nice walk along the shore front then Gdaughter wanted a ride on the Big Wheel SWMBO hates those things but didn’t want to say no to gdaughter so closed her eyes for 10 mins and joined us. I loved it got some great pics from the top. Had a fish tea at Harry Ramsdens on the shore front hadn’t been to one of those for years the only one I knew that was still in business was the one in Blackpool so took the opportunity to go again great as it used to be. Had a walk along the pier and enjoyed a pint overlooking the beach. On way back to the car we came across a vintage American car display so got some nice pics and spent some time looking at those i can always sniff out a classic car event hehe. Back to the van and went to the clubhouse for the bingo daughter and SIL won a couple of prizes. Great day not sure plan for tomorrow but forecast is showing rain.
