Re: What are you all up to
@milliehull it's been easing and getting steady again. Hopefully it'll come your way.
Watching and listening to the garden sighing with relief and greening up. Steadily filling the waterbutts. The air has cooled so much I've had to close the kitchen door as I felt cool 🤣. A very novel experience of late.
Sneaking a break from admin 😉
Slightly damp dog walk. We did go to her favourite immediately offlead bridleway. Back to seriously limiting daily steps again! The farmer keeps it almost as short as a lawn. Great for even damp muddy wet dog walks. But he has the audacity to blame dog walkers for the lack of wildlife and birds! A 15 foot, minimum, from hedgerow to crop start leaves wildlife vunerable. Its the same found every edge of that particular field... Mind you we see hare, deer, stoats and weasels and hear loads of birds including skylarks. I think the meadows the other side of the path and hedge assist with habitat.
LLovely Photos from all. Keep them coming.
Back to grappling with excel. Remembered lots re formulas, wrapping text but can't figure out how to.make the columns deeper so they are easier to.read. only ever did it as a 'sideline' at work and rarely at home. A new laptop isn't helping much either 🙃 .I will preserve and not be beaten..…..... well without a good fight 🤣
Re: What are you all up to
Well the rain did come @Bakers2 but it has now gone again☹️. Not sure it has done much good but at least it is cooler.
Lovely photo of your pooch @Takethedogalong. I am glad all OK with your OH. I too watched Gardeners World from Wentworth Woodhouse @RedKite I really enjoyed it as it was a bit more 'down to earth'. I loved the story of the miner's cottages and their gardens.
Re: Garden Snap Shots!
A snap of our back garden celebrating the rain
All the grass looked like the edges!
Wheelbarrow full of new purchases, might be able to put them before long.
TThat Was taken Thursday, check the change in the grass colour!
Re: What are you all up to
@milliehull we took the car in and managed to find a space just next to the railway station had a great day as you say it’s a lovely place.
We have had rain since around 5 this morning I got woken up by it battering off the roof and it’s been steady ever since but I don’t mind a bit of rain as it’s been so hot here since we arrived on Sunday. Not sure of plan for today yet but will likely be something indoors such as a museum we shall see
Re: What are you all up to
We have had rain. 10 seconds of it, neither use nor ornament🤭 We had to go up to Royal Hallamshire hospital in Sheffield yesterday morning, an anomaly on OH’s latest scan, which always raises the 😱level. Thankfully, it proved to be nothing, so we took advantage of an early start and headed across to Renishaw Hall and Gardens for lunch and a stroll around the gardens. Nice food, and we took the pooch for a roll in his chariot, but it was a very hot day, we were flagging in the heat mid afternoon. We rejoined HHA a couple of days ago, so hoping to do a few more properties not too far away, until we can get back out touring again. Gardens were looking lovely as usual, although the drought is taking its toll. We were back home for 3.30pm, and glad to be in cool of house with fans going.
Sorry to hear about your friend @milliehull, very sad.
Some more great photos from others having good tours👍
It’s a rather good year for all kinds of Butterflies in our area, always nice to see a lot flittering around. Plenty in the gardens yesterday, and we have had plenty in our own garden, plus some day flying moths. Even had a few Hummingbird Hawk Moths. I have planted lots of Nasturtiums this year, sort of sacrificial, and the Butterflies love them, we have been finding hundreds of little caterpillars munching away. Lots of different bees as well.
Hot Dog in a corner of Renishaw Gardens. He’s got orange socks now to go with his collar🤭
Re: What are you all up to
Great photos @nelliethehooker, and @DSB You both look like you are having great holidays with good weather. I love the photos of the trees @nelliethehooker. I am glad you enjoyed Sheringham @Francis. We think it is a lovely little town. Did you catch the bus? We usually do but you can also park at Tescos for 2 hours for free.
The funeral yesterday went well. There was a good turnout so it was good to see some people we hadnt seen for a while. Lots of memories shared. We have known our friend and his wife for years and had some great holidays together some years ago before he became ill.
No rain here yet despite all the yellow and amber weather warnings.
Re: What are you all up to
@Wherenext it was the night before last. I access directly on my Kindle as I leave the link open, but on the phone I have to go through the CC's Web page, however I still do not have to sign in again.
Re: What are you all up to
@Wherenext I did laugh at your comment re washing OH had some new Boxers arrive yesterday via Amazon and I hand washed them today to check for colour run all ok odd to find that they were made in Somerset, not getting you name in red heyho.
Very warm again this afternoon after a cloudy start hopefully it should cool down from tomorrow and it is the village fete for the next two days.
We have had the workers down the road doing the digging and putting new water pipe in they have been starting at 7am and finishing at 3pm yesterday as too hot and today off for the weekend so hope they will get to us next week and of course the road partly closed and the locals confused as trying to get through heyho.
Have a good weekend folks and keep cool.
Re: Battery Offers
Final finished fitting the new battery yesterday. Access to my battery compartment is not easy and it took me two hours to remove the old one, a very heavy180APH AGM one and a half days work the following day to fit the new 200APH lithium one. It was charging ok on the solar panel but not yet checked it on mains or the alternator.
