Re: What are you all up to
Yes indeed @nelliethehooker I did appreciate the photos from @Francis . All places I know and love. @Takethedogalong has beaten me to it with recommendations. So much to see and do in the area. If you have a head for heights and your knees are in good health I would recommend a climb up the tower of Cromer church and also a visit to the Cromer Pier Show if that is your sort of thing. Many moons ago I spent a lot of time in The Jetty Coffee Bar. It is still there but is now called The Jetty Cafe. The layout is still the same as it is a listed building. Sadly the juke box is no longer there. We also like a trip on The Poppy Line steam railway from Sheringham.
Such a frustrating few days for you @Wherenext I hope you get everything sorted soon
Happy Birthday @DEBSC 🎉🎁🎂. It sounds as though you have had a good day.
We had an absolute downpour yesterday late afternoon. I was in the garden and got absolutely soaked. It only lasted about 10 minutes and was very localised. Today we have had intermitant light rain. I am not sure it has done the garden a lot of good but has hopefully freshened things up a bit.
I am glad your foot seems to be improving @Bakers2
Re: Lithium battery upgrade and cost
There are so many utube videos now where people have charged lithium (fitted with BMS) from standard chargers, solar, even simple constant power supplies, that I wonder how much longer we will have to listen to the mantra 'Must have this or that.'
Good special Lithium chargers do have the forced voltage mode if connected to a flat battery where the BMS has shut it down. All it does is wake up the battery to take a charge. You can achieve the same thing by using a simple battery rig. Not going into details incase somebody does it wrong. But just see for yourself.
Any good quality charger will recognise the requirements and charge away happily, indeed faster than it will a lead acid. If you are using a battery charger that is cheap and nasty then you will get what you asked for. Different of course for 'smart alternators' when you want to charge whilst travelling, you will probably need a battery to battery charger. Or just do what I do and trust to good old solar. After all it works just the same when I'm travelling.
Happy Vanning everyone..
Re: How to post photos on new discussion
I didn't use any lens, other than tge one on my eyes🤭
Re: Yorkshire Dealership Recommendations
@LiamLoughney there are a lot of caravan dealers in the South/West Yorks area, some big, some small. How good they are for you might depend upon what you are wanting to buy, how much you are willing to spend. The reality probably is that you will get great service when buying, but after that, it’s not uncommon for issues to start as early as actually picking up your new van, and it can and often does get worse with any faults, warranty work, etc……. It shouldn’t happen, but there are great stories, and then there are buying nightmare stories. Don’t go anywhere without doing a lot of research, on the company, on reviews, on warranty work times, and never give any hint that you are novices to buying (if you are). Be very, very wary, get everything in writing, and use a credit card for at least a proportion of any sale, as buyer protection. The Club has guidance on buying, worth a read.
Re: Tour de France 2025
Rest day today, must be a welcome relief to many of the riders. This has been a fantastic first ten days of racing, with eight different riders claiming a stage win, and some memorable moments, particularly Ben Healy’s stage win and taking the yellow jersey, MVP and Johan Rickaert’s audacious plan and flight to get Rickaerts onto the podium, and Simon Yates climbing away from some very strong opposition yesterday. Fabulous, and more to come. Pog is looking super strong, but his team has been compromised, Jonas is going very well, and still has his fantastic team around him. Oscar Onley and Lenny Martinez are two youngsters having a really good tour. Bring it on👏👏👏
Stand out moments belong to Ben Healy though, such a strong rider.
Re: What are you all up to
As we were so close, 2 miles, we thought that we would call into Clarkson’s pub, The Farmers Dog for a quick drink, maybe in the garden as we knew the pub would be busy. We pulled into the overflow car park and it looked like it was the parking for a County Show or the like, just a very large field full of cars. So we changed our minds and gave it a miss. Glad we did as a short time later the heavens opened again, we’d have got soaked if sitting in the garden. We called in at Moreton on the way home to a tea shop we like and had a milkshake, probably much more enjoyable than the busy
pub. The family and all the grandchildren have been phoning and texting all day with birthday wishes, so it’s been lovely.
Re: What are you all up to
I was up early this morning and off out a nice 10 mile cycle some lovely scenery and it was nice and sunny. Came back to the van and relaxed for a while then we took a drive out to Norwich caravans for a look around and to get a couple of things. Then on way back found a nice little village so spent an hour wandering around there lovely little place. Back at the van now and it’s pouring down at the moment hope this doesn’t last long as we have been enjoying the nice weather here so far. Just getting dinner then might venture down to the bar for a couple of Doom Bars. Not sure of plan for tomorrow yet
Re: Tour de France 2025
Indeed it is @Wherenext although not long ago for us. We stopped at the summit of yesterday’s Cat 3 only a month ago. However, it was hardly recognisable on the TV as there were so many MH’s shoehorned in😂 The road was nicely resurfaced and they were even filling the potholes in the parking area. I noticed on yesterday’s coverage quite a lot of the newly resurfaced roads were covered in a white dust. Perhaps put down because the oils in the new tar were making them slippery.
I do find the lack of coverage in the UK somewhat surprising. Considering who won yesterdays stage I did expect something to be in my online paper (Telegraph) this morning, but not a mention.
Just saying hello
Re: Chatsworth site closings
As it still says the following on the site booking page information, I would assume not.
“Chatsworth is bookable up to 1st March 2026. We are currently working with the Chatsworth Estate to extend our lease beyond this point. For members wishing to stay in the area we have a number of fabulous alternative campsites nearby”
