Re: My First European Tour
I would also agree with @eribaMotters and @Wherenext. The number of sites you propose is similar to our itinerary over a similar period with our MH. Moving on and setting up is much faster and of course as we don’t have a car we move to be where we want to visit. When we had a caravan, although we did a few 1 / 2 night stops most were 5 to 7 days. We would have found it very hard work moving on so frequently.
Re: My First European Tour
Like InaD, I am puzzled by the last bit of your route!
And I can confirm that there are still many sites that close for a long lunch.
A 2 night stop means really only one full day for sight-seeing, and there is a lot to see at several of your stops.
Another thing to watch out for is the lack, on some sites, of provision at ground level for emptying waste water. You can often use the MH service point instead should it be a problem.
A sun canopy to provide shade I would consider essential.
North Staffs Spring Bank
If big rallies are not your thing or Clubfest is to far away, come and spend the bank holiday with us at Cloverfields Farm, Kniveton. Kniveton is a village in Derbyshire in the Peak District National Park. Only 3 miles north east of Ashbourne and a short cycle ride from Carsington Water.
At just £9.65 per night this 5 night rally running from Friday the 23rd until Wednesday the 28th is a must for those wishing to explore the area.

Re: Did you know…
I understand that approximately 65% of the CAMC membership is now motorhomes and campervans and yet the rallies that I attend seem to have at least 2/3rds caravans in attendance. Perhaps rally organisers should look at the structure of rallies and I know that the Camping & Caravan Clubs Temporary Holiday Sites (THS's) are very popular where you just pay for the nights you attend and the rallies where you don't have to book on to which are convenient for last minute decisions and touring stopovers.
Re: What are you all up to
Good to hear that you had a phone call from your brother @Wherenext. Hopefully that has relieved your mind somewhat. Hope you have a good day out with MIL
Margaret seems to be doing so well @DavidKlyne. What a relief to get that over with and get your life back on track.
Nothing much to report here other than the fact that the last few days have been decidedly chilly with a cold north east wind. I was back to the Cathedral yesterday after my cold and I had full winter gear on! We shall see what today's weather brings.
Re: What are you all up to
Margaret appears to be doing well @DavidKlyne I guess you are very pleased with her progress.
Glad to read that you had a dry stay at Spital Farm, @KjellNN and that you got home safe and well. When are you next out or have you not yet decided?
We left the THA as it was ending today and as we left there were only 7 units remaining on the field out of over 100 that were there over the weekend. We had a good run across to Appin, and the C&CC site at Barcaldine, and found the road in a much better condition than the last time we used it. The day started off bright and sunny but it clouded up as we past Tyndrum. Thankfully the sun came out towards evening. We were surprised to find the site almost full, but not at all surprised that there are more M/Hs than caravans, the site being on the NW500 route.
Re: Photo of our unit on site!
Today's location, pitched up in the walled garden that is the C&CC's Oban site, at Barcaldine.
Re: What are you all up to
Had a busy schedule this morning but treated ourselves to an afternoon at RSPB Burton, which we thoroughly enjoyed particularly as it wasn't busy.
Couple of interesting flora.
A broad leaved Marsh Orchid
An unusual sedge grass, Pendulous Sedge.
The weather has been kinder today. Hope to take MiL out for the day tomorrow. Felt a lot better tonight after getting a phone call from my brother in France.
Good to hear of Margarets progress @DavidKlyne.
Re: What have you seen
Had a lovely afternoon at our local reserve at Burton.
The tide was up in the Dee estuary so quite a few waders on the scrapes, plenty of Knot, Black Tailed Godwits but also a Curlew Sandpiper. There was 2 Wood Sandpipers on another scrape. Plenty of Avocets to see as well. Our first Reed Warbler of the year was a bonus as was a Red Darter.
