I tend to put myself in the OPs' shoes and think what would I do. For me there would be no pleasure in trying to carry on if I or my partner could not do the simplest of chores. I would not expect a site to help either so I would be looking at alternative forms of enjoyment. Camping in all its forms is a health hobby to pursue but it does demand a certain amount of fitness. Eventually our health won't be up to it and there comes a point where it is sensible to give it up.

Having a long weekend in London with relatives from Italy. It's not as busy as I had imagined but it is so so hot.

I personally think having centralised bins away from the main camping area is a great idea. No longer having to put up with the noise of members emptying their rubbish (especially glass) after dark. As others have said if members can’t walk those extra few yards then maybe this is not the hobby for them. As for the weight of the bin lids, they take no more effort than lifting a half full toilet cassette.

My phone has 5Gb of use abroad for the £5 a month with Lebara, but I wanted something for my tablet when in the Loire last year.
I bought a TP-Link 4G router last year:- TP-Link M7350 4G LTE Mobile Wi-Fi Router
I used a Smarty Data only SIM with it that is non contract. You are limited to 12GB fair useage per month, so no use in buying bigger. £9 for 15Gb is the option to go for. You could buy two though I guess. The month starts as soon as you activate it, not when you buy it. All plans | SMARTY
I found it a bit fiddly to set up, taking me an hour and a couple of free phone calls, but I'm a ludite.
It worked well and I'll be doing the same this summer.

Sis bought us a floating table for the pool, we spent a lovely hour and a half in here. It’s so hot the water is heating up too much, so we are having fun trying to stop it having a “Brazilian Olympic” moment and turning green. We can’t even top up with cool water from today as Yorkshire’s hosepipe ban has kicked in😡

We did our Waitrose shopping early this morning. I wish we could have spent all day in there as it was nice and cool. It was like an inferno by the time we walked out to the car. By the time we got home and unpacked all the shopping I had no energy left so a day of doing very little.

Happy birthday to your grand-daughter @DEBSC. Shame you had to miss the meal at lunchtime because of the heat. It is our eldest grand-daughter's 30th birthday on Sunday but as she Is 7 months pregnant they are keeping it fairly low key with a family BBQ. OH is not coping desperately well with the heat so I have said we might just just pop over with her present and card and possibly not stay too long. We have organised a pregnancy massage for her at a spa in a rather nice hotel.

Another doing very little here! With all blinds and curtains closed our lounge - since last night, is saying 29.... OH and the dog wiped out. OH more than the dog. I've moved into our rarely used garden room, much cooler. Will shift OH in a mo, not sure if cooler in the shade of the house on the patio. Will test that in a minute. OH health issues so not great at the best of times. I've worked too long in aircon set at 18 max to enjoy these temps!
@milliehull I think you made a very good call on your outing today however disappointing. We should have met Essex friends in Newmarket today, cancelled earlier in the week as he's tested positive for covid. Disappointing but a relief I think.
I was aiming to walk to our church to view knitted bible scenes on display, caught a glimpse of them at the history society last evening. Not even the church struck overly cool then. I can see the church from our house, less than 5 min walk - but decided to hope for better chance tomorrow 🫣.
I walked the dog at 0700 this morning, still not early enough! But stuck to the shady path. Home to admin work, which took longer than expected.
Yesterday quick stop at the building society in the city then on to Stamford with my not working vacuum 🥲. Fine on Tuesday, no juice, just brief light showing and disappearing fast Wednesday.Discovered the Vacuum House on an earlier potter around Stamford soon after we arrived. FANTASTIC service, sadly my vac, was my mum's probably purchased in the 1990's so owed us nothing, beyond repair - motor gone. Chance to try out vacs before choosing. This one is a SEBO. Last was a Miele. Much quieter but seems as good. Let's hope it gives as good service. As my mum would have said "it'll see me out" 🤣

@Takethedogalong - We've been there in the past, but not recently... especially as we're currently withour a dog (😢) We quite like Godrevy... not National Trust members at present, but we don't need to pay parking with a disabled badge.. 🙂

Dartmoor really appeals to us, as it is chock full of history, literary references, and is a very special and beautiful place, superb for walking, cycling, horse riding and wild swimming. Get away from the main routes that cross the Moor, and it becomes utterly magical down some of the very narrow lanes, and into the forests. We have in the past taken to the high moors on horseback, and the sense of peace and quiet is just amazing. It was possible to drive around the Okehampton Range on none firing days, but it really needs a proper high lift 4x4, not sure if you can still do it nowadays. There are some great walks from Bellever Forest, and on a hot day, it’s possible to swim in the River Dart. The car park area can get busy, but venture quarter of a mile away, and you will have the paths to yourself. Can highly recommend the Dartmoor Prison Museum as an interesting visit. There are other good wild swimming spots at Spitchwick and near Fingle Bridge.

@peedee - We, too, lament the closing of that campsite near Bury St.Edmunds. There's an interesting nature reserve quite close by with lakes plus Bury itself is worth a visit.
