Congratulations to Sean Yates on effectively winning the Giro on what was a monumental penultimate stage.

Honestly didn't think he had a chance going into todays stage.

😱 we are watching on catch up, so didn’t result. It will be Simon Yates that has won I am guessing, but he must have put in one heck of a ride. The whole race has been fantastic from the very off, and the scenery has been magical. Got to get to the finish line in Rome though🤞Some awful crashes and bad luck for some, Lidl Trek have had a fabulous Giro, as have Astana.

Off to watch todays stage now.

Apologies @Takethedogalong. Freudian slip as obviously it's Simon not Sean. I was called elsewhere and have only just noticed the error.

Hope I didn't spoil things too much for you.

@Wherenext no, you didn’t spoil it, it was such a fabulous race today, unbelievable turnaround by SY, so pleased for him. The first time we were aware of the Yates brothers was quite a few years ago now, when Simon won on Dartmoor. They are both such brilliant gritty riders……….and from Bury! The whole Giro seems to have had a different feel this year, a much greater support on the roadsides, and the coverage (apart from Rob Hatch) has been very good. Isaac del Toro looks like he is going to be a force to be reckoned in the future.

......I think there is some sort of problem with editing posts on this thread (thanks for pointing it out @nelliethehooker ). I'll contact @Rowena for her to discuss this with the developers...

Edit: @nelliethehooker . I've just tried to edit my post and all seems OK. I can get into other post to edit too.... just not yours! How odd!! Lets see what Ro says!

Lots of discussion in the cycling press about the tactics of Carapaz and Del Toro. It’s was a strange stage to watch, UAE and EF Education will possibly need to do a huge unravelling of what went on, but Simon Yates, aided by an incredible Wout Van Aert and the Visma team deserve huge credit for what they pulled off. Hope all goes well on today’s finale in Rome. Mads Pederson has been absolutely rampant, and Lorenzo Fortunato and the Astana riders have possibly saved their whole Astana team from relegation. A classic Giro from start to finish. Including the Albanian goat!

A great race, and SY made it unscathed to the finish, with a team member winning the stage too. SY is only the third Brit to win the Giro, and it is his second Grand Tour victory.

@DSB it looks as if the problem has been rectified, thanks again.
