I think you always leave your details when you book in and when you book the site in advance

then there is a system by which the reading 'gets' to the office, I assume the owners do not go round and read it manually or maybe they do, either way it costs money.

The best way would be some electronic transfer so again adding to the cost of such a meter and the system to receive the data in the office.

But yes as we discussing club sites in the UK it would certainly be a problem when leaving, at the moment you simply go (OK hand in or post your fob) and that is it, a much better system IHMO.

If the system as you say happens over there (and again it doesn't happen in all sites remember) is introduced here at tremendous cost then could be a lot of people all in the office wanting to leave. As you say very complicated.

But i thought you were not in favour of meters?

Why not increase the number of pitches without ehu, then it would be up to the individual.  In my recent trip over there I saved about €34 by opting out of hook up on some sites. A lot of sites over there have a daily fixed sum for electric.

The current system on club sites work because just like at home consumption depends on season, very low in the summer, low in spring and autumn and higher in the winter.

A big plus one. I go on holiday to enjoy myself.

Also you(one) spend (tens of) thousands, plus travel costs on your outfit then worry about a few pounds using it seems strange at best.

Oh and if it does come to pass, use a fan heater - no red glow for the curtain twitches.

And the best thing is club sites are much cheaper in February when more electric is used.

Dont have an awning to heat, so personally wouldnt mind.

But is this the first step down very slippery  and cold slope.?

of course, third world countries like Spain, France and Germany seem able to painlessly collect metered data from pitches, prep up a bill, allow payment the night before leaving and still sell them a lot more cheaply than the club.

as AD/DD both say, metering of electric certainly focusses the mind and, if the OP is really asking for the club to reduce its overall electric usage then this is certainly one way to acheive it.

however, as nothing that happens over the water counts as 'the real world' please ignore my postwink

Maybe they should join the majority in the 21st century then ... my 80 odd year old parents use both. 😉

In my experience if using Acsi you get an allowance per day and if you exceed that it’s something like €0.50/unit.  Another way to pay is a daily charge i.e €3 or €3.50 per day. Day being 24 hrs.
