Hi M I did add nearly,but the last time I looked at Hillhead club site it was about £46 per night for pitch plus 2 adults and 1 child or £51 per night with 2 children in high season.
The suprising thing is it's nearly fully booked, so supply and demand takes over.

Yes, Hillhead is expensive and it does surprise me that it's as popular as it is, although having said that we'very never been there but it may have some attraction!
I always think that the club offers a pretry good deal in high season for families who choose to use its sites though; certainly a better deal than the vastly inflated prices of the likes of Haven and Park.

I get the idea but too many variables...... but why £51 and £10. The CL network allows access to far more sites than are in the CAMC network. The price of all sites is set in relation to its position, facilities etc so if the annual charge is basically for the right to book sites, shouldn’t it be £25.50 for CAMC and / or £25.50 for CL, or considering the difference in the number of CL’s to CAMC sites say £35 for CL’s and £16 for CAMC sites.
If I were a cynic, I’d say someone seems to me to want access to the CL network on the cheap !!! 😎

I am not sure I really understand the logic off it, not from the CAMC's perspective. Is it really going to bring in enough new £10 members to compensate for the loss of those paying £51 who's only reason for belonging is CL's.
We only use main sites and don't belong to the C&CC. We have considered joining, but it hasn't been the price that has stopped us but the fact we have not found the need to use one of their sites. So a lower price would not be much of an incentive. So are members of the other club going to rush to pay their £10.🤔

Many of you get upset when I mention the rest of the western world, butI I am touring Europe right now with no need of any membership at all. Campsites are open to everyone, I just pay at the desk.

No different to this country then. There are plenty where membership is not required. Plus I am sure if you try hard enough, you will find membership only sites even over there. In effect the ACSI scheme which we used was a type of membership. It certainly got us cheaper rates.😀

I found exactly the same when touring France and Germany, as I did year after year. No need to book or join any organisations just turn up and you are made very welcome and you pay upon leaving.
UK club sites are obsessed by advance bookings and paying on arrival they also want a lot of money for a discount card.

exactly +1 If you don't want to join or visit a club site then 90% or so of the sites over here are non club sites, isn't that enough?
Oh and most of them will have plenty of space, unlike club sites.

also many/most non club sites also have advanced booking too?
But you make it sound as if the club is somehow forcing people to use their sites and pay a membership fee, if you don't want to, or can't like yourself K, then don't.
But many seem to want to? membership levels are the highest they have been in a while. wonder why?

MT-- If you are a customer and pay your £51.00 per annum, you get a discount card. This enables you to get a discount over what normal caravanners pay on site who don't have a card. It's easy, even a child at primary school would understand that.

I only have one "discount card" or one that gives increased service from a provider via my caravan club membership and that is my Mayday "membership",
I do have some very good "discount" cards that were part of my two previose employments before i retired that are also valid for my OH,all of which give us much better value for money than most for our Leisure time

There is perhaps an arguement to be made that it is a discount card for non member sites. However, how it is a discount card for those that are member only, or CL's? It is a requirement to be a member (pay for the card / join the club) to stay on them. Nothing about obtaining a discount on the cost of staying.

I guess that I must be careful here, because the last time that I said that I only ever use CL's I was torn apart, and almost every word dissected and hidden meanings that weren't there suggested.
But actually I think that this is a classic case of "If it ain't broke don't fix it! As I have already said somewhat treasonably to some, I think that as a whole package the CC (I will never use the new name) does a pretty good job. I do make use of the foreign travel & booking service, I am insured by the CC's insurance co, and I have benefited in the past from Red Pennant. So I am completely relaxed about paying my annual membership, even if I don't use club sites.
IMHO I love the flexibility of CL's and their low costs. So I don't quite see DD's point but I'm sure that he has a perfectly valid one!
Carry on CC, but please get rid of that much derided new "Ice Cream advert " Logo.

We rarely use any sites, nor travel, nor insurance and scan the magazine for 10 minutes. Does that qualify for a 100% discount?
