Site of the Week: Hunter's Moon Club Site
Site of the Week, Hunter's Moon Club Site has so many fantastic opportunities for days out. There's the Isle of Purbeck, the RSPB Arne & East Dorset, National Trust Brownsea Island, not to mention visits to Durdle Door, Studland, Christchurch, Swanage and Weymouth. Have we missed anything? Oh, I do wish you hadn't chosen this one, Rowena.
I'd be failing other members if I didn't point out there's a scrap yard next door, a fair amount of road noise on some pitches, and when we visited a rather brusque warden.
Sorry, but the two nearby commercial sites are far superior.

Maybe the nearest town of Wareham could get a mention, it's an attractive, ancient town with the river Frome at it's centre. The river goes out to Poole harbour where there's even more to see. There are boat trips and walks along the river and you can also walk the town walls which are Saxon. The town itself is much older going back to prehistoric settlements.
A nice place to spend a few hours.

Couldn't agree more about Wareham brue, lovely town but we've not visited for about 5 years and have a desire to return. Love the area generally.

Just a small point about the Isle of Purbeck, it's not a physical island in the sea but the name given to the area 😉 and without looking I would have said the site is possibly set in the Isle of Purbeck.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience TW and will certainly feed this back to the sites operations team. I'm pleased to report that many of the recent site reviews for Hunter's Moon have been 5 star with lots of praise for the wardens so hopefully this has improved since your visit.

It's a good site for caravanners, not quite so convenient for motorhomers. We stayed there a few years ago with our caravan, many of the sites in that area are along busy roads but the forest of Wareham is adjacent to the site, lots of nice walks.

Stayed there one June for about 5 nights. Our pitch was well away from the road so did not suffer any noise, and was not aware at the time of the scrapyard or any other problems.....read about them on here long afterwards. Site was very busy at the time, but overall we enjoyed our stay.
Nice area of the country, lots to see. We will go back soon, possibly next year. Would like to use Hunters Moon again, but may not do so as we are moving more to CLs due to prices. Will depend on whether there are other suitable sites in the area.

We may return to the area this Autumn but it will be Birchwood we head for rather than HM. Sorry, Rowena but that's the way it is.
It is a lovely area with much to see from Portland Bill and Weymouth to Purbeck, Poole and beyond.

I wouldn't apologise TW, a recurring theme on here, quite rightly, is that if there are other sites (C&CC or commercial) that suit you better, whether that be pricing/facilities/location/arrival/departure/adult-only etc etc then use them.
I for one will be revisiting these "site of the week" threads when making bookings for just this sort of info.....

No doubt that particular warden has moved on by now, Gray, and it's only some of the pitches that catch the noise.
The neighbours are still there, though.
I agree about Wareham and the surrounding area and that's why we return from time to time (and stay at Birchwood).

hence we stay on the Rugby Club with the CCC at the THS meets they have there several times a year......or the one at Furzebrook up the road.....far nice than the situation HM is in on that road, not good for cycling and definitely not walking, but walking forest trials is fine.
like, TW, think the two commercials are good sites......but prefer being able to stroll into wareham in a few minutes (safely) from the Rugby Club.

Just returned from this site & we both loved it . The only downside was the constant barking of dogs from the travelers camp & the very poor almost non existent wifi that myself & my wife paid £10 each for but was terrible but apart from that a great site .
