Secure 'on site' Dog Walks
We have just come back from Cirencester Park site which had a lovely big dog walk but it was just not secure enough to let our small Cavalier King Charles spaniel off lead. This is a shame because apart from a rather dilapidated gate and about a meter of
rubbish fencing, the dog walk would have been totally secure as the rest of the fencing was extremely good!
I feel sure I am not alone in wanting to let my dog have a little ‘off lead’ time but even though he is pretty good on recall, he is still young and should he see a rabbit or other wildlife he would be off on the chase and the thought of losing him whilst
away from home doesn’t bear thinking about.
It is for this reason that a secure dog walk is just about the first thing we look for when going to a caravan site and up to now we have found pitifully few; just one Caravan Club site (New Forest Centenary Site) and one independent (Dornafield Caravan
site in Devon) which are both excellent for it’s dog walk and site, as it happens!
Looking around the Cirencester site which was very busy, I have never seen so many caravan owners with dogs and it would be very interesting to know what percentage of Caravan Club members actually own a dog. Given that, does anyone else agree in appreciating
a dog walk that is secure. Also, does anyone else know of any other sites that are secure for smaller dogs?
