Having been out of the UK for two weeks now, we haven't seen a newspaper or any television in that time.

Has anything happened?

There's this technology called "the Internet"

It has a search engine called "Google"

You can search things like "UK News" to your heart's content.

    Cheers

So, no point in a discusion forum then........

Would that also be your response to anyone who asks a question on here? - go look it up on the internet!

    Why do you say that?

I was merely pointing out that the information you seek is freely available.

If you then wish to open a discussion about a particular event or topic it is open to you to do so - within the Community Guidelines, of course!

    Cheers

I don't watch the news much. There never seems to be the time and a lot of the stories tend to be rather depressing.

Seems a bit of a shame that a member returning from abroad is not welcome to ask his fellow members if he had missed anything important while he was away.

I would have thought that sharing knowledge is exactly what friendly forums were excellent at.

    Hm !!!

Where did anyone use the words not welcome or even imply it K?

Certainly not my posts - which aimed, as ever, to be helpful and even educational!

I've not seen a newspaper or television for a lot longer than that and I've not been out of Scotland, never mind UK.

It's a bit like these glossy magazines - once you have 24 consecutive issues you can just keep on reading them in rotation each month as nothing actually changes. You can test it with the CC Magazine if you didn't bin them all by now.

The BBC on the Intenet should really be hauled up under Trades Description legislation for having five-day-old stories appearing under "NEW"s.

I will actually try to answer the question the OP asked very briefly. There is still a civil war in Syria and the assylum seekers are still trying to get in. Corbyn as been re elected leader of Labour and the junior doctors have suspended their strike action.
Does that help? Thee BBC news website is very good if you have acess.  It's very brief, it's all I can remeber. It's probably very much the same as before you left.

A bit nearer to home for Ian. York City's bus got trashed by Barrow supporters chucking bricks through the windows. Two hurt apparently.

    Well done, Dave!

Hull KR have their Super League status teetering on the brink.

Ed Balls was bottom of the first Leaderboard on Strictly.

Blimey how much more news do you expect to get - if you must go "over there" for your hols?  If you'd only stayed at home you'd have known all this stuff!

(Well, possibly not Dave's good news! Wink)

I think that might be impossible, if Ian can only make contact with CT that might be difficult. In fact if only CT is available in France I wonder what the french think of it?! Worried
