As we are non EHU, this is one of many things we don't have to think about. I have never come across a non EHU site ( or EHU site for that matter) that doesn't allow it! We always have charcoal BBQs and after that (or during) we convert our Weber 'Go Anywhere ' into a fire pit. If we want to wild camp.  We have never had a problem where we have to think if it's permitted or not. The only thing is to check the wind direction - smoke is not a great friendship maker!  Sitting in the gloaming with a fire is one of the joys of caravanning life!

Some sites will ban the use of bbqs (normally gas allowed) if they are in vunerable areas ie forest/heathland/farmland in dry conditions

There is usually a reference to their use on the site information sheet. I haven't been to a site yet where you can't have them. Check with the wardens just in case.
