What are you all up to

'Your house' neighbours have got a cheek to moan, only two cars, most people have at least that outside their house. Wish our neighbours had only two cars. One of our neighbours still has their grown up sons living with them and one of them has a girlfriend, also living there. So two cars for the parents, both sons have a van and one has a car as well and also the girlfriends car, so that is four cars and two vans for one house, now that is a pain, but nothing we can do anout it as they are entitled to park in the road. Nearly all of our other neighbours have least two cars.

The same in this area ,as when the houses were built in the 1950s there were no the cars ,so it is a nightmare and will only get worse as us "oldies" move on
there are about six hoses in our road now that the residents do not have cars but we are all 70plus now

Snowing here on and off, not much sticking thankfully. Anyone out and about take care.
Malcolm, the club is treating you like a person on holiday on a seasonal pitch, as many would just go home in such conditions and argue for a refund or extra days/ weeks at the end, but you are not on holiday, you need the pitch to live on. Many members have advised you on a back up plan, which you chose to ignore as your way of living was the best etc, now you are pitchless and expect the club to bend over backwards to help you out.
I totally agree with the "house" neighbours, I would hate it if you parked on our street, depriving the residents who pay council tax of a place to park. Maybe now you find that your cavalier attitude to your lifestyle has consequences.

I don't think it's possible for me to afford a back up plan, cariadon. To have property, that was big enough to accommodate our caravan, in this area, would cost a fortune! If no pitches are available, we would just have to wild camp for a few days over peak season until pitches become available again.
We decided to move the cars because the neighbours were troubling my cousin about it. The streets, roads etc. are funded by road tax and we were legally entitled to park there. So the neighbours complained directly to us in the hope that we could be persuaded not to park there.

Malcolm, your problem is you don't think of the future and live day by day.
The only sustainable long term plan is to sell the caravan and shogun and rent a flat from the Council. If you have to move away from the expensive South to achieve this what is stopping you? If you need to get on a waiting list do it now before it while you still have the caravan. Pizza deliveries could be carried out anywhere.

The bit of road where the Motorhomes park looks a fair walk from the site. You may have an inboard tank but can you tow with it full? If not it will take a few journeys to fill. Plus of course there will be waste disposal, unless of course you are going to discharge into the gutter. Sounds a possible plan for a motorhome with large waste and water tanks, but not realistic for a caravan.

Now all sorted for another two nights here at Chapel Lane. Then on to Cirencester once it starts to warm up on Tuesday. Snow has now stopped but very strong gusty wind is redistributing what is on the ground. Water points all frozen, so block only for water. Currently water working in the van. The aquaroll / waste master are on the lee side of the van,so that may help.🤞

Wind still strong to gale force easterly. No snow here at the moment, just flurries which aren't settling.
Houses evacuated at Hemsby as imminent collapse of cliff taking some holiday cottages with it.
Son snowed in on holiday in the Quantocks.
Stay safe and warm out there folk

Last time I was allocated what was called affordable housing through a Housing Association, Swifty2018, after having been on the waiting list for two years, I stayed in it for 5 years from 2004 to 2009. The rent and the council tax went up every year. By the time we moved from there the rent and council tax together came to £100 per week and there were bills on top of that. My Pizza Hut pay would not be enough to cover that. Also that was 9 years ago. If you add 9 years of inflation to that, the cost would be much more. If you can't pay, they take it away! As soon as the rent goes into arrears, it goes to court for a court order to evict you and then the bailiffs come and you're out in the street with nothing!
As soon as we found we couldn't afford the rent, we didn't wait for them to evict us. We gave them one months notice to quit, bought two plane tickets to China and set up an English language school there where we ran our own private school earning money from fees.

Would agree with you Swifty on your advice to Malcom to rent a flat, but from the council! He hasn't got a chance. Our daughter has been on the waiting list for years. She has three children, and has to rent privately, she has been told it could be another 10 years. There are very few council houses now, they have all been bought. Malcolm, without a family, doesn't stand a chance.

Come on Malcolm, you get more than just your Pizza Hut earnings, what about your state pension, your other pensions, your monthly payment from your brother, or did you kind of forget to mention those?
Move somewhere you can afford then. You state you have no ties so whats the problem? DOH!
They sell pizzas all over the country you know

Where could I get anywhere for £5.60 a night, Yertiz, inclusive of electricity, water, council tax etc.?
My state pension is £577.12 every four weeks, Pizza Hut earnings £400 every four weeks, Civil Service Pension £52 per month, Scottish Widows pension £49 per quarter i.e. every 3 months, monthly gift from brother £325. Also I have a wife to maintain on this money! So total is less than £1500 per month.

Roast lamb!

Exactly, DEBSC! That's why we keep meeting so many people on club sites that have chosen to live all the year round in their caravan.

Malcolm, how does a typical old age pensioner who only has a state pension manage? The answer must be that they are given additional state benefits - they certainly don't live in a caravan

Has anyone else on here met these people?

So ,what you are saying is that you have a monthly income of £1500 a month ,yet you still can't manage !! Get real ,there is a lot of people out there on a lot less income than you and still manage to live in a house and pay a mortgage and don't go moaning about it .you are obviously living beyond your means .

I saw about the houses at Hemsby on the news last night OP. Such a very worrying situation for those living there. They used to be well back from the cliff edge but now only a few metres away. Poor souls facing the prospect of losing their homes. I hope your son stays safe.

Stay safe Helen. I hope you have a couple of days before you set off for home. I think the weather is supposed to be improving by Tuesday. We had more snow overnight and with a bitterly cold wind it is blowing it about and the paths and the roads that haven't been gritted are lethal.

Also I have a wife to maintain on this money! So total is less than £1500 per month.
From what we have read the wife is cheap to keep, shopping for reduced food, refusing to let you buy her a relaxer, not cutting her hair to save money. You are earning far more than a lot of people who have family and homes to maintain and you have the cheek to say you are poor, get real and find out what poor is.

Just back from a walk to the farm shop fetching a few extras. That was certainly far enough today. The wind is very gusty, occasionally rocking the van quite violently. Walking into it is not pleasant, I think some TV viewing might be in order this afternoon. Then if things improve a bit tomorrow, perhaps a visit to NT Baddesley Clinton. It says they have a restaurant there, so maybe lunch and then a look round the house.😀
