What are you all up to

Lovely morning so we were in need a good walk, so put our boots on and walked out of the site to West Kirby and onwards to the lighthouse at the northern tip above the town. Smashing. Fresh air and sunshine.
Put up and then took down our sun canopy as we've not tested it on the new van yet and want to take it with us when we travel abroad this year. Fits well enough. No need to buy a new one. Best £50 spent on an awning ever for us. About 5 years old and still going strong.

Thanks for all the congratulations, we are just back from visiting them, they are staying in overnight as DD is exhausted. Dad was looking a bit shattered too having only had 3 hours sleep.
He is to be called Calum (or maybe Callum) and will have my name as a middle name. I will need to teach him how to say it properly!
He slept through most of our visit and was not bothered by being passed around. His other grandparents will visit this evening, along with 2 of his aunts.

Congratulations on the safe arrival of your grandsons Kj. What lovely news. I am so pleased for you all. How lovely that he is to have your name as his middle name.

Yes, his Dad said they had decided to include my name so he could have have fun explaining where it came from and how to say it!
He will be a caravanner in a while as we are apparently to have permission to take him on holiday with us when he is a bit older. His other grandparents are contemplating a MH, so we shall see.

No photo I'm afraid, his Mum does not currently approve of parents who put their children's photos on the internet.
We think he looks quite a lot like his dad, but has his mum's nose. Otherwise he looks like.....a baby.....a little crumpled!

Very wise of your daughter Kj to not want photos of her baby on the internet. You can't be too careful these days. Our DIL will only allow photos of our grandsons to be shared via WhatsApp as that is private and secure.

Congratulations to all concerned on the arrival of your new grandson, KJ.

Perhaps you should explain to us how we should pronounce it as well.

Beautiful morning here. Clear blue sky and about 7 degrees. Is this the lull before the snow at the weekend I wonder.

Wet and windy in West Wales this morning, not too cold though. Had a lovely day out yesterday Llandeilo, Llandovery area of the Black Mountain and Usk Reservoir. We took a picnic lunch. It was blue sky and sunshine, just what the Dr ordered and temperature reached 10 degrees.
A day to catch up on the housework.

Nice sunny morning here in Brighton too! I finished work on time at 22:00 yesterday and was back on site soon after 22:30. My wife stayed in the caravan whilst I was at work as she had a lot to do in preparation for our move on Friday.
After work tonight, I'll need to go to the house address to swap over cars as we need to bring the Shogun back here so that we can take it in to Mitsubishi Brighton for its MOT early tomorrow morning. They told us that it would take 2 hours. Then return it to the house address to swap for Smart car, thereafter, take my wife to the railway station to catch her train to London Bridge for her dental appointment at Guys Hospital.
Following that, I'll return to the caravan for lunch and later leave for work. Finish work at 20:00, collect wife and return to house address again to swap Smart for Shogun to bring Shogun back to the site ready to hitch up next morning for the move to our seasonal pitch.
It seems the weather forecast has changed. No more snow forecast but windy! I just hope the weather will be ok for our move and not windy that day. We need fair weather for erecting the awning!

Bright and sunny morning, will be loading the caravan today before work later, all ready for our trip to Dorset.
Malcolm hope the shogun passes it's MOT otherwise it could put all your plans in jeopardy. Fingers crossed.

I was hoping for picnics on a beach in Dorset at the weekend,
Might happen but looks like I'll need thermals!
Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday.

Thanks Brue, new telly for the van delivered yesterday, so we have a backup if we get snowed in.
although forecast now looking better.

Where did that go. Last thing last night it was there. Now it's gone. Good news in any event, although will still be very cold.

Off to see the Vampire nurse this morning for routine sampling. Looks like it is going to be a nice warm day, so a visit to the caravan this afternoon, to sort some things for our up and coming trip. I was just reading the paper and noticed they are looking at phasing out 1p and 2p coins. This I would think might be bad news for charities, given the number of small change collecting containers. I very rarely spend any of mine, they just go in the nearest pot. They are also considering doing away with the £50 notes, due to lack of use. I don't think I have ever had one, so no thoughts on that either way. However, I noticed the Nissan dealer, where I take my car, has already done away with all cash. Credit and debit cards only accepted.

Listening to radio 4 this morning, one of the journalists, used to cards in London was surprised at the need for cash in Manchester. I use cash quite often, especially in small local shops etc. I save the copper coins and small change, I think they said that's what most of us do. Then we put them in the bank and cause a shortage. So it looks like the coins are quite costly to replace so often.

The existing MOT expires on 22nd March, H&T, so if it fails we can book it in to have the necessary work done on another day before the expiry date.

A lot of the Pizza Hut customers pay cash on delivery and all the tips I get, whether cash or card order, are always in cash!

Our son who lives in Manchester never has any cash, everything paid on card or phone.
when you ask why he never has any cash or coins, he just says " why? never need any!"

If car fails it MOT it is deemed unroadworthy as soon as it fails. Therefore should not be driven as such, if stopped the police will probably tow away and it also makes insurance void. (from an mot tester friend)
1 -
Yes you can, but you shouldn't drive it, insurance is void if you get stopped.

That, I think, is something best done in person as the kj sound is not one that exists in English. It does take a bit of perseverence to get it right.
Good news on the caravan front, the van is now ready for collection and the repair to the hitch damper is all covered under warranty. Just have to sort out now whether we will have time to fetch it today as it will be a 2 hour minimum round trip.
