Good luck with that. Having those drops is never very pleasant. I think I have only had it done once but Margaret, as part of her diabetic check has it done quite frequently. A couple of years ago I was told that I had the start of cataracts which sent a shiver of fear down my spine!!! At every eye test since then I have enquired after them to be told they are very mild. Strangely at my eye test last week I was told one of my eyes had improved!

That test is a bit of a pain Steve, particularly as you have to take someone to drive you home at the end. Dark/ sun glasses are a very good idea. As your pupils are made really large by the drops everywhere seems very bright. Hope everything went well.

Everytime we have taken the car, Milothedog, we have used the NCP multi-storey car park just around the corner from Guys Hospital opposite the pub and pay the congestion charge which can easily be paid online. No problem for the Smart car but the Shogun wouldn't fit because of the height limit.

Thanks DK and DSB. Must admit the thought of someone fiddling about in my eye is not my idea of fun. Although OH says it was interesting. Unfortunately needs must though, it is starting to make driving very tiring. I just hope I don't need the other one done. Although it does not have a cataract, the consultant said because of my degree of shortsightedness in a very few case this can cause an imbalance, meaning the other eye would also need a new lens. I will just have to hope my brain can cope with the differences.😂🤞

I'll see your cataracts and raise you a superior quadrantinopia.

Yesterday, we had a change of plan. We went to the house address in Worthing to collect the Shogun for refuelling with diesel at the Tesco Extra in Durrington. Cost £84.51 which I paid using my debit card. The debit card is also a points clubcard so I can pay and collect points on the same card. I get double points that way so that will mean 168 points. If using a debit card, it's always best to use the same card to pay and collect points, when buying fuel. If you collect points on a separate clubcard, you get less points.
After that we returned the Shogun to the house address and collected the Smart car to get back to our site in Brighton. Then we spent the afternoon, eating, drinking and listening to music followed by an afternoon nap, after which we had our evening meal followed by the 9 p.m. movie on Film4 called Wolverine.
The movie ended at 11.30 p.m. after which I had cheese and biscuits and was in bed by midnight. I slept through the night until 6.15 a.m. this morning when I noticed that it was already daylight. Only 8 days until the Spring Equinox now! Clocks go forward in 12 days time. Yippee!

That was one of the reasons I changed my last Venga as it only had a four speed auto box. This was fine for general long runs but driving around MK (lots and lots of roundabouts!) it could hesitate at roundabouts. My current Venga has a six speed box and is much, much better in that respect whereas before I had to blip the throttle to force a down change.

My Smart car is automatic and great for urban driving and in traffic jams!

Our new grandson has finally put in an appearance, at just after 5am this morning, DD rang us at 7am with the news. All doing well. Not sure how long they will be in the hospital, we may be able to visit later today. All we know so far is that he has blonde hair.
Otherwise, we have had a busy few days with the Guide Hall coffee morning, which went reasonably well although attendance was low due to the wet weather.
Now awaiting news on our caravan, which should be ready to collect later this week.
OH has been found to have the start of cataracts in both eyes, very slow growing apparently, so I have been reading all your experiences with interest. My sister had both eyes operated on last year and had a very good outcome.

I think she was too worn out for photos, and SIL is probably still stressed out!
We were with her till 5pm yesterday, with nothing much happening, so we gather that it all went quite quickly in the end, quicker than normal for a first baby.

Congratulations on your new grandson.
I recently discovered that what I thought was a pretty substantial fence that borders my garden and the road is in need of repair or replacement. I removed the original wall because it was becoming unstable about 10 years ago replaced it with a proper feather boarded wooden fence. The garden is about a foot higher than the pavement the other side so the supports concreted in abutted to the remains of the wall. Unfortunately over time this has cause some rot to take place so the whole thing needs replacing. I am getting to the age where I think it is a too big a job just for me so time to call in the professionals. MK Fencing did my other fence a few years ago and I was pleased with that. Guy came out today and fairly happy with the quote of £670, I was expecting it to be more!!! The new fence will have wooded posts unlike the the fence between gardens which has concrete posts. A certain person, who shall remain nameless actually reversed the motorhome back too far and snapped one of the concrete posts so I thought I would get them to do that at the same time including raising it up a little so a bit more to be added to the original quote.

Thanks David, and others, now busy letting all the family in on the good news, I have a large family so it will take a while.
How long is the fence that needs replaced David? Not looking forward to when ours needs to be done as it is a very long distance all the way round the garden. I put it up almost 30 years back but, like you, I think I will need to get someone in to do it when the time comes.

Congratulations KjellNN on the birth of your new Grandchild.
Not doing much, waiting in for delivery, sun is out so have pegged all washing out on the line to dry. Getting fed up of waiting now, hope parcel turns up soon!

Had the fence between us and the neighbour replaced about 2 years ago. Similar price to DK's, concrete posts and 30 cm panel, then wooden panels. The previous fence, all wood I put in over 25 years ago, so had worn well. This fence was a joint enterprise with the neighbour and although both into DIY felt the work involved, plus weights would be too much.
Sites misbehaving again, just taken three attempts to post this.☹️

We fenced the whole garden after the house was built, neighbours kept their hands firmly in their pockets!
OH and her mum treated all the timbers before we put the fence up, son and I did all the heavy work using wooden posts inserted into those long metal post holding spikes. Then horizontal rails across posts and vertical boards onto the rails. Must be about 50-60 metres in total.
When it needs replaced it should be partly a shared cost as neighbours agreed to the sides becoming what up here is called a "mutual boundary". Nobody behind us so that will be our cost.
We have new neighbours on one side, I think they would pay up, but on the other side we now have only the lady of the original family and she will likely not be keen to pay up.

Congratulations Kj! Like you SteveL, this is my third attempt to post this having tried the reply button twice with no result and loss of typed matter! I wondered why I hadn't seen you on here for a while, Kj. Now I know!

The section being replaced is probably about 8/9 metres long ( we don't have a very large garden) The existing gates are remaining. The fence with the concrete posts cost £500 about five years ago and that was about 12 metres long. The new fence will be a more traditional construction. Just had a phone call from them and they are coming early April to do the job. Shame it wasn't next week when the motorhome is in for service!!!

Congratulations Kj and family, lovely to hear abut the new arrival.
Good luck with all your fencing activities...we have a neighbour who says every boundary is someone else's! The disadvantage in that stance is that he often complains about what is put up or grown but it's too late by then.
