Hi everyone, we are about to buy our first MH and we are leaning towards the Swift Voyager 574, but also glancing a sneaky eye at the roller team auto roller 747.
I know everyone will have their opinions on which is a better build, but I'm looking for pros and cons about both, but leaving price out of it.
Let me have any advice, pros, cons, or bad experiences if you have them, or tell me to stop being indecisive and just pick one!! 😂

The last option is best. Are they both on the same base vehicle as that could otherwise be the deciding factor?

Invariably with both caravans and motorhomes it is often the quality of the dealer that makes the difference. At the end of the day you have to live with the motorhome you buy. Now what suites you might not suit me. I know some might disagree with me but no manufacturer sets out to make a bad motorhome. There are lots of Facebook groups dedicated to either manufacturers or even particular models. These groups will give you a good insight as you are talking to real owners as opposed to those just expressing an opinion?

Come on, David. What are we if not 'real owners'?

We bought a new Swift Voyager 584 in March and seriously haven’t looked back 👍 We’ve done nearly 4,500 miles and over 100 nights (including staying at home through the hot weather and kids hols) and can say it’s one of the best purchases we’ve made. We use the shower and once mastering the hot water system, it’s lovely and toasty, as is the heating. As it prioritises the water when on boost, we’ve recently bought a small fan heater (£10 from Tool Station) and it fills the void for heating now the cooler weather is upon us 🙄 The only issue (rather than a problem) is well documented on the owners website, that the central locking on the habitation door works intermittently. We’ve had it back to the dealer, but Sod’s Law, it wasn’t happening at that time 😂 We just end up pushing the handle to lock. We fill using an Aqua roll and the electric external pump has it done in minutes and very quiet. Hope this helps 😊

Paul Kerry, Both those motor homes look lovely - even luxurious - and back at the time when we retired we could have afforded the capital outlay to buy one. But that would have taken all our money and left us next to nothing to do other things and go other places.

So we kept an old paid up caravan and an everyday car to tour Europe every summer, but had money left to visit a cousin in New Zealand, a son in Australia and then in Hong Kong, to share holiday houses in Dorset and the Lake District with family and friends, to go back more than once to the very expensive Scilly Isles, to ride trains up and down India, and have different tropical beaches every winter.

So as I say, your motorhomes look wonderful, but for us they would have been too much of a tie. Silk lined, but a tie. It’s all about choices and we decided not to buy either of them.

    Happy travelling

Thank you for all the comments so far.
It's good to hear you agree both are good choices.
It's looking more like the Swift will be the winner here, but all depends how much give the sales man has, as it's right at the top of our budget..... Slightly past it to be honest, just don't tell the wife 😂

Just to add, we both drive the motor home and it’s very easy to manoeuvre, even negotiating supermarket car parks for a click & collect and a refuel en route to sites. We opted for the automatic 👍 Hope it all works out for you and many happy Motorhoming adventures 🤞👏👏😂

Had a Roller Team Pegaso 740 since 2019 and not had any major issues. I think the best advice at the moment in terms of turbulence in the Dealer space, with so many closing down, is to find a dealer close to you and that you feel comfortable with and can build a good relationship. As things go wrong either big or small, as they will do, having a good dealer should make it less painful.

Hi Paul, spookily, our dealer contacted yesterday saying Swift had authorised fixing the habitation door, so they did listen after all 👍 😂 We’ll see how that works out? It’s obvious Swift know about it, so if it ends up being the Voyager, then double check this with the dealer, as it may save you having an issue further down the line?
