Newbies with our caravan

Hi All
Kev & Lisa, we’re brand new to caravanning.
Our first trip out at the end of October to the New Forest we are really looking forward to.
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me please.
I have just driven our caravan to its place where we are storing it.
On placing it in the towbar the caravan connection Seemed a bit close to the metal work on the tow bar, on arrival it took a lot to disconnect the caravan from the towbar, so it had scratched into the metal. Going forward is this normal or would I need to replace the towbar?
Many thanks, all comments are very welcome.

Once you have parked the van and put the handbrake on, ease the car forward gently so that the rubber gaiter on the van's hitch expands. Uncoupling should then be a lot easier.
Sorry but I’m not sure what you mean about being close to the metal work and scratching. You can’t possibly have damaged the actual towbar which is well underneath the car.1 -

A photo would be useful as well……👍

Goodpoint, Kj. That could damage the towball but definitely not the towbar.
