The autumnal colours make great photographs.

……..it’s a beautiful time of year. Stunning colours, plenty of late flowers come into their own, it’s fun walking through falling leaves and kicking your way through them on footpaths. The Gulf Stream makes sea swimming a bit warmer on the West Coast, we always used to make the most of Cornwall in September and October. Places to visit aren’t as busy, you can take your time around historic houses and monuments, not chugging around with lots of others. Food seems nicer as well, as fresh produce grown on the estates comes into its own. Once the Summer rush is over, there are some good last minute prices on cottages, hotels, sometimes campsites as well that make getting away a bit cheaper. Special wildlife events such as the seal pups arriving around the coast, arrival and departures of migrant birds, deer rutting, etc……
One of our best memories out Autumn touring was a tiny little hidden CL in Cumbria. Ex railway line, pitch where you want, quiet, next to woodland. We had deer visit up close every evening, stunning sunsets, and pitch dark for great star watching. Owls, bats, small mammals everywhere.

As @Takethedogalong has said historic properties are less busy, the generally cooler temperature enables us to leave our dog in the car while we visit them. Sites are uselessly cheaper and less busy too so we have a greater selection of pitch. We love the changing colours of the trees, fresh fruit is often available either free or much less expensive than in the shops, and the autumn night skies always appear clearer so great for stargazing.

We came home laden with free fruit from a day out last week🤭 Different apples, pears, and we sat munching on figs picked off tree in a big garden as well.

More apples today at a Historic Scotland property, a couple of eating apples on the counter, and a small bag full of cookers from the tray outside the door. They will end up in crumble, cooked in the airfryer, later in the week.😊
