Anyone Had This Happen?

Whilst away last week we were woken up by our Dometic RMS 8551 fridge bleeping but no warning light showing on the fridge. First thought was a power cut but no, no power cut. Then made sure the door was closed properly. Yes it was. I tried it on gas. Same problem. In desperation I switched it off completely as we had already been woken up several times by very heavy showers battering the roof of the caravan. This beeping was the last straw as we were moving on next day and needed some sleep.

Next day I put it on again on 12v. Whilst I'm towing I won't hear it! It was still cold and still a bit iced up after 200 miles towing, not thawed at all so it must still be working.

The only thing I can put it down to, and there is no reference to this in the Dometic handbook, is that there was some icing on the cooling fins in the freezer compartment. It does say icing can affect the performance of the fridge but not that it will bleep if there is an excessive amount of ice, (which I didn't think it was).

I've had the fridge on to test it since we got home with the fridge thawed and dried out and no bleeping. Everything appears the be normal.

Anyone else experienced this?

A drop in mains voltage can cause it.

We have had it happen a couple of times @JohnM20 which we have put down to voltage drop, but not sufficient to stop the clock on the microwave. All we do is switch the fridge off completely for a while and once restated it appears to work properly once again.
