Best Sealant
I'm sure this has been asked many times before on the older forum but can't find it on this version. Bailey Unicorn shower base is moving when you stand in the shower breaking the sealant seal between the tray and the sealant. Has anyone found a sealant flexible enough to stop this happening?

A non-setting sealant should flex.

But if it does'nt set how do you clean the shower?

OK, strictly speaking it’s not categorised as non-setting but it flexes. Sikaflex. It's weatherproof so you can get it wet.

@andytyneandwear there are a number of different types of Silaflex, although Silaflex EBT+ says it is suitable for shower trays. Silaflex 522 is stated as suitable for caravans and M/Hs while Silaflex 591 is for marine. It might be best to talk to your supplier as to which would be best suited.

@andytyneandwear - best advice I can give is to go and talk to a marine chandler who should be able to advise you as to the most suitable Sikaflex for the job. Many years ago - Sadler yachts were held together completely with Sikaflex - no screws used in the construction at all. If anyone remembers the programme, "Howards Way" (based on the Hamble) - the Saddler 34 was the one featured, that crossed the Atlantic - so I'm sure if it could do that, there must be a Sikaflex that can hold a shower tray together!
You do have my sympathy, though. We had the shower tray leak twice in our Unicorn Barcelona. First time it was fixed under warranty but the second time it cost me £500 for a local dealer to strip out the bathroom to dry it out and then reseal the tray. We got rid soon after that.
The solution is oh so simple, though. When we bought our present Knaus, I commented to the dealer that someone had forgotten to seal the shower tray because the shower walls were loose at the bottom and not sealed at all into the tray. Quick as a flash, he told me that there was no need because the shower tray was moulded with a substantial upstand that went behind the shower walls, so there was no need to seal it. Almost 7 years on and although we use the shower in the van all the time, we've never had a problem.
Why don't all manufacturers use the same sort of shower tray?

The technical department at Sikaflex are very helpful. I contacted then one regarding the bonding of a secondary awning rail to the GRP roof on my Eriba. I was going to Sikaflex and stainless steel screw it into place. No worry they said, use product No ??? and no screws needed. They are on the ball.

Thanks everyone going with Sikaflex 522 fingers crossed. But why can't Bailey put a support under the corner of the shower tray to support it?
